The best time of year to charter a boat in Marbella

Marbella's season runs far longer than most people expect, and the “best” time to be on the water depends on what you're after: warm swimming, empty coves, lively beach clubs, or the soft light of a late-season sunset. Here's how the year actually plays out on our stretch of coast.
The short answer
For most people, late May to early July and September are the sweet spots — warm water, long days, and noticeably fewer boats than the peak fortnight of August. If you want the buzz of high summer, you'll want to book well ahead.
Spring — April to June
The coast wakes up. Days are bright and comfortable, the sea is warming through June, and the water is at its clearest before the summer crowds arrive. Mornings can be cool on the water, so bring a layer — but for a relaxed cruise with the coast almost to yourself, it's a lovely time.
High summer — July to August
Peak season: warmest water, longest days, and the beach clubs in full swing. It's also the busiest and the first to sell out, especially weekends and the whole of August. If this is your window, lock your date in early and consider a morning or sunset slot to sidestep the midday heat.
September to October — the local secret
Quietly the best time of all. The sea is at its warmest after a summer of sun, the crowds thin out, prices and pressure ease, and the light turns golden earlier for those long, slow sunsets. If you can travel outside the school holidays, this is when the coast is at its most relaxed.
Winter
Charters run on calm, bright winter days too — perfect for a coastal cruise, dolphin-spotting and a quiet lunch on the water, wrapped up warm. The swimming is for the hardy, but the coast in winter light is something most visitors never see.
